Point of View: The Gallery Wall

To create a bold statement wall is much like sweeping paintbrushes of layered colors upon a fresh canvas. It may be a residential stairwell wall adorned with family portraits that are neatly staggered in gallery frames. It may be a bedroom accent wall covered in a believable concrete or brick wallpaper. It may be a garage interior artistically decked out with trendy bikes and gardening equipment wall-mounted to perfection. It may be a children’s playroom customized with a multicolored wall mural of painted handprints.

Taking some of our handmade products from artisans around the world (sold here), a fresh approach on product use is to simply hang it on the wall and allow its design to shine rather than the product serving a practical function. Handwoven wool rugs made in Tunisia travel from the floor to a feature wall behind a living room sofa. Handwoven rattan bowls and platters from Indonesia move from tabletop surfaces to upright surfaces where they create a patchwork collage. Handcrafted and painted ceramic birds fly from horizontal surfaces to an exterior wall of a backyard oasis where they are at bird’s eye view.
