How the storyline of Hazel Coasts originated

Coastal Heritage
Just as it relates to defining a product’s place of origin, our founder, Lindsay Ghord, is herself the epitome and byproduct of multiple places of origin. Her culturally rich heritage and kinship span across the 4 continents of North America, Africa, Europe and Asia. The diversified coastlines of her family’s origins include Florida (herself), Georgia (father), The Netherlands (mother), Tunisia and New York (son), Indonesia (grandfather), and Costa Rica (relatives). Lindsay’s inherent love for beach culture, travel, design, God, and community development has always played a pivotal role in her lifestyle and worldview. The concept of Hazel Coasts is an interactive hybrid of ideas, products, and experiences all influenced by Lindsay’s passions and the seaside locations of her family roots.
New cultures
Growing up constantly meeting new people and adapting quickly to new cultures and environments was considered the norm as Lindsay’s family frequently moved geographically causing her K-12 education to occur in 11 different schools. Her college education at ORU allowed her a plethora of international experiences ranging from missions trips throughout Mexico targeting orphanages and indigenous Mexican Indian communities tucked in mountainous villages to multiple studies abroad in Florence, Italy. There she completed intensive language programs, workshops for architecture, interior design and graphic design, and an internship for design and retail operations at a boutique in the heart of Florence which specialized in upcycled fashion. Lindsay also lived in The Netherlands for a couple years where she received her certification in Business Dutch ASL.

Global perspective
That lifestyle pattern continued into her adulthood with years of traveling the world for international sales management positions in the luxury furniture and retail industry, participating in missions trips and community outreach programs both domestic and abroad, actively volunteering in churches where she was involved, and having the general perspective to quickly connect with people and maximize opportunities in any given setting.
