Hazel is: Sunflower Yellow

Oftentimes when I see the color I refer to as Sunflower Yellow, I get the 1969 Beatles’ hit in my head: “Here Comes The Sun.” That was decades before I was born, but I do know the song. Blame it on the countless hours I tried to master The Beatles: Rock Band or the past episodes of American Idol - The Beatles theme weeks when someone scooped up this song. Funny enough, when George Harrison wrote that song he was going through a bit of dip in his life and upon visiting the house of his friend, Eric Clapton, he wrote this song. While walking around Clapton’s garden and using one of his acoustic guitars, he wrote this song to highlight the sunshine of springtime coming out after the weariness of winter. The same is true when adding a Sunflower Yellow accent into a drab space. A bowl of lemons, a vase of sunflowers, a pop of sunshine in the form of smaller accents like the above banner photos of ceramic teacups, cookware, yellow pompoms on a black and white striped blanket.

A custom color palette that I adore for its nautical vibe in both fashion and interior design is midnight indigo, bright white, and sunflower yellow. I think of cruising on a sailboat and sporting a white and navy striped sailor shirt, white linen shorts, a yellow leather crossbody bag and a pair of espadrilles.
